Mission ---is to provide quality medical care, adoption placements,
promote spay/neuter procedures, and provide outreach education for
pet owners At the core of Home Fur Good's Vision and Mission are
the rescue, care, and adoption of dogs and cats to loving,
permanent homes. The care of the animals we rescue, the quality of
the experience for our animals, adopters, volunteers, donors, &
staff, and our Vision and Mission are dependent on safely and
effectively managing this cycle of rescue, care, and adoption. The
Vision and Mission of Home Fur Good has and will always include
both dogs and cats. Job Description Animal Care and Behaviorist is
responsible for organizing, leading, and executing a variety of
tasks intended to promote the rescue, care, and adoption of dogs,
cats, puppies and kittens, including but not limited to: Animal
Intake Animal Behavioral Management and Training Needs Assessments
General Care Administration Adoption and Events This is an
important role for the success of the mission of this organization.
You will be a senior leader for the rescue, be able to influence
our direction and educate the staff, volunteers, and leaders
driving positive adoptions and loving care for hundreds of
deserving cats and dogs. Are you up for the challenge, with one of
the best shelters and rescues in Arizona? Required Qualifications
and Responsibilities Achievement of one or more Animal Behaviorist
Certifications with demonstrated ability to handle and develop hard
to manage animals for adoption. Significant experience and
expertise in best practice animal handling training, and behavioral
management for dogs and cats. Ability to recognize common illnesses
in cats and dogs and refer to veterinary staff. Familiarity with
rules, regulations, and best practices in animal handling for dogs
and cats care field. Experience and ability to analytically triage
and assess candidate animals for rescue to the shelter based on
behavior, medical condition, adoptability and desired shelter mix.
Ability to interact professionally with the public, volunteers, and
staff; including helping to manage the adoption process. Experience
in training staff and volunteers in animal handling and care.
Strong communications skills, both writing and verbal. The ability
to document process, standards, and complete required documentation
in a timely fashion, Experience in designing animal management
programs for animals in the shelter, including training, special
needs, and unique placements with a goal of adoption. The ability
to participate with staff and volunteers to prepare for and execute
community events, including those supporting adoptions and public
awareness or outreach. Ability to directly counsel adopters on
their pet's behaviors to achieve best outcomes from adoptions as
well as ability to prepare animals for adoption. Must be able to be
on-call for emergencies when not in attendance at shelter. Manage
quality stats on animals and adoptions. Other Desired
Qualifications Basic computer skills including Microsoft office,
and other software in the field. Strong interpersonal skills, with
a pleasant, calm, and professional manner. Ability to always show
respect for co-workers and the public, even under stress. Live
within reasonable traveling distance to shelter near Shea and 32nd
Street with reliable transportation. Ability to work a flexible
schedule with the ability to work any day required. Basic
Information This position is full time and salaried. Salary between
$45,000 and $55,000 based on experience and qualifications. Reports
to the Shelter Director. Professional references will be required.
